TAOIST TRAINING - mattijs mark van katwijk (1973)

“The Universal Tao is a practical system of self-development that enables individuals to complete the harmonious evolution of their physical, mental and spiritual bodies. Through a series of ancient Chinese meditative and internal energy exercises, the practitioner learns to increase physical energy, release tension, improve health, practice self-defense, and gain the ability to heal oneself and others. In the process of creating a solid foundation of health and well-being in the physical body, one also creates the basis for developing one’s spiritual potential.”

(Chia and Baker in Mantak Chia’s ‘Tan Tien Chi Kung’, Destiny Books)

I have studied Taoism since my teens, when I was especially attracted to its  philosophy of nature. At discovering the Healing Tao my training soon intensified and sharing my enthousiasm with others proved inevitable. As Taoist arts are experiencing an explosive growth in the Netherlands I was lucky to train frequently with many instructors, among whom Inge Maassen, Reinoud Eleveld, Juan Li and Michael Winn. I trained with Mantak Chia in Tao Garden, Thailand and on Weibao Shan and Wu Dan Shan in China. I practice T’ai Chi Chuan, Aikido and I am an artist, mainly active as a cartoonist.

Healing Tao comprises of an extensive array of Qi Gongs and Nei Gong meditations starting with a.o. the Inner Smile, Six Healing Sounds and the Microcosmic Orbit. I teach Iron Shirt Qi Gong, Dao Yin, Transformation of Sexual Energy, Tai Chi Chi Kung, Cosmic Healing, Wisdom Qi Gong and Qi Gong series like the Eight Brocades, Five Animals and Daoyin Baojin Gong. The individuality, practicality and sense of humor of the taoist masters are a source of joy and inspiration for me.

I teach mainly in Den Haag and around the ‘Randstad’ and I am happy to travel most anywhere. I started giving English Qi Gong courses at the European Patent Office and am confident in expanding my trainings in the English language.
